About Albena Danailova
Albena Danailova was born into a musical Bulgarian family. She grew up in Sofia, where she started her musical training with Prof. Nely Jeleva and Prof. Dora Ivanova. In 1995 she transferred to the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock and HMT Hamburg to Prof. Petru Munteanu for Masterclasses with Ida Hendel, Herman Krebbers, Luis Kaplan, Andreas Reiner und Stefan Georgiu complete her musical education.
In 2001 she received her diploma and at the same time was engaged at the group of the second violin of the Bayerisches Staatsorchester. In 2003 she advanced to the first violins and afterwards to first concertmistress. Also, she acted as concertmaster fort the London Philharmonic Orchestra form 2003 until 2004. Since September 2008 Anna Danailova is concertmistress at the Wiener Staatsoper.
As soloist and chamber musician she performed at festivals in Bulgaria, Germany, Israel and the United States, she performed with orchestras such as the Mozart Orchester Hamburg, NDR Sinfonieorchester, Kammerensemle Concertino, Sofia Soloists, Sofia Philharmonics and others. At the same time she recorded for Deutschlandradio Kultur, the NDR, as well as television and broadcast of her home country. The scholarship holder of the Deutscher Intsrumentenfonds is award recipient of numerous contests (2. price competition Kloster Schüntal, Tibor Vagar-Spezial price, semi-finalist at the Tchaikovsky competition, 1. price Vittorio Gui, as well as 1 price for duo with piano).
About Julian Riem, Concert Pianist
Julian Riem was born in Munich in 1973, studied under Michael Schäfer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich and under Michel Béroff at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris. He finally continued his studies in the solo performance class of Rudolf Buchbinder at the Basel Music Academy, where he received the diploma for solo performance with distinction. Julian Riem won international piano competitions in Modena, Madrid and Florence, and was awarded a scholarship at the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb (German Music Competition). As a soloist, chamber musician and Lied accompanist he is regularly touring Europe and Japan.
Performances at international festivals, such as the piano music festival "Liszt-en-Provence", "Musica mundi" in Brussels, the "European Music Academy" in Aix-en-Provence, the "Sándor Vegh International Chamber Music Academy" in Prague, the "Sofia Music Weeks", the "Rolf Liebermann Podium" Hamburg, "Les Muséiques" in Basel, the "Münchner Biennale" and the "Munich Opera Festival".
Together with Johannes Dengler, he initially started working with Markus Wolf in the "Münchner Horntrio" in 1999. A collaboration, which they soon continued as a constant duo. Numerous concert engagements confirm their mutual success. In 2006, the Süddeutsche Zeitung wrote "[…] the young Munich pianist Julian Riem and Markus Wolf, First Concertmaster of the State Orchestra of many years, are two utterly distinguished, top-notch chamber musicians who play the pieces earnestly and with devotion …"Julian Riem participates in sound and TV recordings for the German broadcasting stations BR, NDR, SWF and ZDF, for the Japanese NHK, Radio Nacional Spain, as well as for Bulgarian radio.
